A personal trainer has received €22,000 in damages for a foot injury which he sustained during a triathlon which will prevent him from competing in any further triathlons.
Judge Gerard Keys awarded the Plaintiff €22,000 against the Irish Triathlon Association. The injury was said to have been caused when the trainer was leaving the water after the 750m swim portion of the race and his foot came in contact with a screw or nail while walking up the wooden ramp provided.
The athlete received medical attention at the scene and received four stiches. He told the Court he still feels pain to this day.
