Council pays out €8m for employee injury and public liability claims

Dublin City Council paid out over €8m in 2014 on employee injury claims and public liability claims.

The Council received over 1200 injury claims in 2014, costing over €7.7 million in settlements. These were made up of injuries including broken limbs and facial injuries.

Cllr Jim O’Callaghan has called for safer working conditions for Council workers and better protection for the public against injury.

The Council has said that they take risk management “very seriously “ and said the central unit works closely with each department in relation to injury prevention.
